<p>Utilizing the same small footprint of two inches long by just over an inch wide, Ascendent ID’s newest CompacTag raises the bar for value and performance in a small package with a 6 year expected tag life.</p>

<p>“Our customers have emphasized the need for longer-life tags in a small footprint and we have listened and delivered.  Our newest CompacTag has an expected life of over 6 years, which will translate into an even lower cost of ownership over the useful life of the AVI system,&#8221; says company President, Doug Crane.  “We were able to significantly increase tag life without increasing our trademark small footprint.”</p>

<p>The new CompacTag is compatible with all of Ascendent ID’s readers; which have an adjustable read-range to enable the CompacTag to be read from just a few feet up to 30.  As with all of Ascendent ID’s tags, customers can specify the facility code and tag identification numbers at the time of order to simplify tag management.</p>

<p> Blanton teamed with Jeff Straus, the President of Countdown Entertainment, and the Executive Producer of Times Square 2012, to create the role of the live event Emcee-Host for the show watched around the world by more than 2 billion people.</p>

<p>Don Blanton is no stranger to show business. He was one of the youngest radio personalities in the country as well as a DJ &amp; pioneer in the disco era. </p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>After spending many years with his mentor, Dick Clark, in Times Square, Blanton realized that there needed to be entertainment as well as a host to inform the loyal crowd as to what was going on during the show.  As the story goes, 11 years ago, the NYPD was afraid to have someone on a Public Address system, as the fear was that the crowd would become too excited and break through the barriers. &#8220;They did not have the budget for a celebrity host,&#8221;Blanton said as he volunteered as the host to prove that his theory was correct.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>11 years later he is still at the helm and volunteers and donates his talents free of charge.  Don says, &#8220;I do it because I truly love it. It is the highlight of my life!  I had also wanted to share the spotlight with Dick Clark, and my first big year was the year that Dick became ill. I never got my moment with him, but we are still close friends to this day.&#8221; Don and Regis Philbin created a tribute to Dick Clark in Times Square and sent the feed to Dick&#8217;s hospital room. Blanton remarked, &#8220;I wanted Dick to know how much, we all missed him, as that was the first year he (Dick) had missed in many years.&#8221;  This year also marks the 40th anniversary of Dick Clark&#8217;s New Year&#8217;s Rockin&#8217; Eve on ABC. </p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Blanton remarks, &#8220;The first year we were allowed six lines, and the script grew every year, until now, it is 52 pages of dialogue.&#8221;  Blanton, along with Countdown Entertainment and the Times Square Alliance created many performances in order to create the event you see today. Don remarks, &#8220;The people were becoming bored with just the ball drop, and Dick Clark&#8217;s New Year&#8217;s Rockin&#8217; Eve only showed the people in Times Square as a backdrop for performances they had taped in June or July.&#8221;  Today the event boasts live performances, and every network and media outlet covers the the Times Square Celebration around the world.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Don was also responsible for introducing the television hosts, Ryan Seacrest, Anderson Cooper, and Carson Daly to the crowd before their broadcast. Countdown Entertainment and the Times Square Alliance created the wishing wall in the Times Square Information Center where people write their wishes on pieces of confetti, which are dropped at midnight, and became one of the highlights of the Toshiba hourly countdowns.</p>

<p>Don is also the CEO and President of The WOW Factor, Inc., an award-winning production company which manages and creates the content for some of the most famous signs in Times Square. (e.g. Coca-Cola, Toshiba, TDK, Hyundai and Xinhua News)</p>

<p>Blanton and his team at the WOW Factor also produce the official countdown animations and graphics shown underneath the ball at midnight on the Toshiba-Vision screens. These countdown animations have been used in hundreds of shows and documentaries, as well as featured in the newly released Gary Marshall film, &#8220;New Year&#8217;s Eve.&#8221;</p>

<p>In the past, Don created the hourly countdowns with Jeff Straus which were sold to Coca-Cola and for the first time in history, the cameras showed the ball drop and cut to the Coca-Cola sign for the official countdown. He also helped sell some of the past major sponsorships, including General Motors. </p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The Executive Office Center at Fresh Meadows, which is decorated with nearly 70 black and white photographic images of historic Queens, obtained from the Queens Historical Society, has launched an online gallery of its photos. The office center, serving Queens and Long Island with virtual office services, and serviced office space, welcomes visitors who are interested in viewing the actual display.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<p style="text-align: justify;">&#8220;The photographs dramatically illustrate how life in America has changed over the last 100 years,&#8221; said Jack Blumner, Executive Director of the office center. &#8220;When we opened last October, we thought it would be interesting to use historic images of Queens to decorate the office building rather than traditional artwork. It&#8217;s impossible to walk past some of them. They just stop you in your tracks.&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<p style="text-align: justify;">&#8220;Some of the photographs go as far back as the late 1800s, to the time before Queens was even a borough,&#8221; said Mr. Blumner. &#8220;There is a wonderful photo of the old Queens Court House in Long Island City, taken in 1887.&#8221; Others from the same time period include an image of the Flushing Post Office in 1895, and a 1895 image of the Van Siclen farm, the present day site of St. John&#8217;s University in Fresh Meadows.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Several photographs depict the turn of the century amusement park in East Elmhurst known as North Beach, which later gave way to the landing fields of LaGuardia Airport (shown in 1939, when it opened).</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<p style="text-align: justify;">There are numerous images that show the development of the infrastructure of the borough over the years. There is a picture showing the construction of the Whitestone Bridge (1939), another of the building of the Queensboro Bridge (1915), and a 1908 photo of the construction of the Flushing 7 train line.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<p style="text-align: justify;">Queens was once home to some famous personalities, such as World Heavyweight Champion, James Corbett. A 1903 photo shows Corbett out for a carriage ride with his wife and two pooches, smiling amicably at the camera.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<p style="text-align: justify;">No photographic retrospective of Queens would be complete without photos of the 1964 Worlds Fair in Flushing Meadows Park. That marvelous summer, when the world came to Queens, is recalled in several photos of the Fair.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Few people who live in Queens today will remember that Flushing Meadow Park was also home to the 1939 Worlds Fair. One of the buildings that was built for the 1939 Fair later became the temporary home of the United Nations, from 1946 to 1951. A photo on display in the Executive Office Center conference room shows the historic vote by the UN General Assembly on November 29, 1947 to divide the British Mandate of Palestine into two states, one Arab and one Jewish.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Singapore, 18th April 2002 Â Mobile payments facilitator Systems@Work today launched TelePay at SingaporeÂs largest shopping mall, Suntec City. TelePay is a unique mobile payment system that allows shoppers to pay for their purchases easily, securely and conveniently, with just their personal mobile phones.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">TelePay is the result of the efforts of a consortium formed by Systems@Work, Gemplus Technologies, Mobile e-Services Bazaar of Hewlett-Packard (HP), VISA International and Suntec City. The consortium was presented the Award of Mobile Payment Solutions from the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) under the Call for Collaboration Initiative of its Wired With Wireless Programme in October 2001. Led by Systems@Work, the consortiumÂs objective is to provide Singapore with a proven, robust, and easy-to-use mobile payments infrastructure for consumers, businesses and the government.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Said Mr Ng Fook Sun, CEO, Systems@Work, ÂSystems@Work is committed to help shape and create a mobile lifestyle. Together with our consortium partners, we are able to synergise best-of-breed solutions into a payment infrastructure that is robust and easy to use. This is an important step for the consortium towards providing a nation-wide mobile payments system for Singapore. This project also underscores the unique competitive offering of TeleMoney as a solution applicable to not just the Internet but also the wireless channels.Â</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Using TelePay, shoppers no longer need to present card or cash at point of purchase. All they need is their personal mobile phone that acts as an authentication and authorisation device. TelePay is simple, convenient and secure to use. It links a personÂs mobile phone to his or her preferred payment method such as credit card, debit card, direct debit to bank account and subsequently stored value.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
<p style="text-align: justify;">TelePay is designed to be a cost-efficient payment infrastructure for retailers, while providing greater convenience to their customers. It is estimated that retailers can save an estimated 60% of total annual terminal infrastructure costs. In addition to direct savings in infrastructure costs, both the retailers and customers now have an added convenience of accessing their transaction records online.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The system is easy to implement at low costs and causes minimal disruption to operations as participating merchants need only register with System@Work for a merchant account. Devices supporting multiple payment methods, such as the HP Jornada PDA or the merchantÂs PC-based Point of Sales (POS) are linked to manage TelePay transactions. The HP JornadaÂs wireless capability makes it portable and enables payment settlement to be conducted anywhere inside or outside the shop. This brings added convenience to customers as well as merchants. With the friendly user interface, staff are able to learn how to operate TelePay easily.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">ÂTelePay is a mobile e-service that will enable consumers and businesses to derive new value from the Internet and represents a significant step towards making the vision of a wireless future a reality for all,Â said Kelvin Tan, Director, Mobile E-Services Bazaar, Asia Pacific, Hewlett-Packard. ÂHP is committed to extending its infrastructure capabilities, information appliance leadership and mobile e-services expertise to help partners like Systems@Work in incubating and promoting innovative wireless applications for Singapore and the Asia Pacific region.Â</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The system has been under intensive technical trials for the past three months. Today marks the start of the first phase, where the consortium is working closely with about 50 merchants in Suntec City. The next few months will see the consortium embarking on a whole series of marketing and promotional activities targeted to encourage consumer sign up and usage. The consortium feels that Suntec City is the ideal venue due to its huge size, wide merchant mix, and its management pro-technology approach.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Said Suntec CityÂs CEO, Mr Wong Ah Long, ÂWe are very pleased to work with our partners in providing TelePay. Suntec has over two million visitors every month. We are always happy to introduce solutions, technology-based or otherwise, that add value either to our tenants, or to their customers. We believe TelePay will be one such solution.Â</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Suntec and Systems@Work also kickstarted the next phase of their partnership by signing an MOU to develop a non-queue wireless parking payments service for the complexÂs huge car park. Called TeleParking, the service enables visitors to Suntec City to pay for their parking fees via their mobile phones and possibly other mobile devices from anywhere within Suntec City. This service saves time and the hassle of having to look for and queue at Autopay Parking Systems. The service is expected to launched within the next 6 months.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Besides TelePay, customers can use the same TeleMoney number and PIN to make payments via other applications supported by TeleMoney over multiple channels including Internet, mobile and proximity (over-the-counter), such as TeleCab in CityCab taxis, online ordering for photo prints via FujiFilmÂs Print@Fujicolor or online payment of donations to the Rotary Club.
